Football news

Like me you’ve probably watched Escape to Victory and marvelled at John Wark’s performance alongside Ossie and Pele.  So caught up in the fleeting glimpses of Ipswich Town stars (hang on there’s Russell Osman) and wondering how The Lawgiver from Battle for the Planet of the Apes came to cast Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine as footballers I must confess that a detailed match report had passed me by.  Well, thanks to the Escape to Victory website help is at hand.  Click here for the full match report, and here for Pele playing the harmonica.

[irony] And if this drama documentary can demonstrate how the Allies came together to play football in the second world war, what price a British football team at the Olympics?  Does it really take Max von Sydow to arrange it?  Or are there fears that the celtic nations will turn up like the Eastern Europeans and require a good shower, haircuts, and delousing – even if playing in the Premiership? About loveandgarbage

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.
