Fake game shows

Channel 5 – 2009

Hot on the heels of Celebair – teaching celebs to be air hostesses (ITV2 – coming soon folks!) – Channel 5 promoted Celebrickie, where a celebrity learned to be a bricklayer, while labouring on a housing development.  Hosted by TV and radio’s Richard Bacon the celebrities comprised ITN’s Alistair Stewart; Anneka Rice; Calum Best, fresh from his celibate mission on cable TV; JImmy Nail; and celebrity mother Lowri Turner.

The early episodes featured the celebrities learning the skills, with Stewart displaying a particularly finely honed ability at pointing.  Nail’s past experience showed through, though, and he seemed to be certain to win the public phone-in votes, when the programme came to an abrupt end, as building work ceased on the site and all celebrities and mentors were made redundant.

The proposed follow up to Celebrickie featuring dry stone walling was axed before any shows were filmed.  Celebrities that had agreed to take part included Michael Buerk and that shouty blad grocer offof Masterchef.

About loveandgarbage

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.
