Scottish satirical blog

I have this weekend come across the spoof blog of Alasdair Allan MSP – the SNP member for the Western Isles.  Although some of the issues raised in this blog seem wholly local, there are a number of witty (often perceptive) observations about Scottish political life in there.  The blog is occasionally written in the style of Bridget Jones Diary, for example

“Gaelic words spoken: 17
Fish eaten: None, to preserve stocks
HQ press releases rehashed this week: 7″

I particularly enjoy the regular appearances of his loyal staff – Kenny (whose tales of his ewe and their “special time” enliven proceedings occasionally) and Rona (who replaced Rhona after a tragic set of circumstances).

As an example of the style try the last linked post.

I don’t know who is responsible, but it’s a small lovingly created work of satirical delight.  I wish I’d thought of doing something similar – highly recommended for those interested in Scottish politics, or those looking for a new Pooter.

About loveandgarbage

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.
