For your consideration

My regular reader may recall my raving about French thriller Spiral, broadcast on BBC4 a couple of years ago.  Well good news, Spiral is coming to DVD in October.  Thrill to the unfeasibly handsome prosecutor, the unfeasibly beautiful detective, the willowy bespectacled judge, the drug addled detective, brilliant script, tight filming, with great direction and editing.  All in all the best thriller to grace British TV since State of Play.  Highly recommended – and apparently series 2 will make its way onto British screens soon.

About loveandgarbage

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.

I did like Spiral very much – it’s certainly the best thing to come out of French TV, well, probably ever.
However, I did wonder if I liked it so much because it was different, rather than because it was good. I spent most of the time wondering why the previously vaunted inquisatorial French justice system seemed so backward.
And despite being French, it seemed so stereotypically French with everyone having affairs with each other, prosies and major politicians that I thought it had been put together by some avid ‘Year in Provence’ readers at times.
All the same, very much looking forward to series two now – I didn’t realise they’d got off their arse and made it. Will blog about it in a bit – cheers!
