Britton’s got talons

Described by Sam Wollaston in The Guardian as a “Vanity vehicle (in so many ways)” Fern Britton hosted, directed, and produced the new manicure based reality show from a beauty salon in Weston-super-Mare.  Much of the budget was wasted on a highly creative opening title sequence showing Fern’s nails growing using CGI (provided by The Mill).  The appearance of Tony Britton having his nails buffed and painted by Kath – a shop assistant from Truro – and Steve – a Top Shop assistant from HAmilton – in the second episode was not enough to save the show from premature axing and an afterlife on UKTV Bright Ideas (home of programmes that don’t have any).

Surprisingly the show triumphed at ITV’s National Television Awards in the category of Best ITV programme set in a beauty salon.

About loveandgarbage

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.
