Powell was right

Less embarrassing “Powell was right” explanations for Conservative politicians in the coming weeks.

Powell was right

to join the cast of a hospital based BBC drama, despite having previously appeared as Jesus and Richard Hannay.  After all, it’s a step up from The Detectives;

to make Peeping Tom – while much misunderstood at the time it is, clearly, a masterpiece;

to give up in the 100 metres at the world athletics championships – because if you’re not going to win the gold you might as well preserve energy for further attacks on the world record later in the season;

or – relating to Enoch himself –

to give up his chair in Greek at the University of Sydney to join the army at the outbreak of the Second World War as his war record was truly exceptional.

If you can offer other excuses that would get racist politicians Conservative candidates and others preying on fears over immigration off the hook then please suggest below.

  1. ravensthorpe says:

    Powell was right to disguise the socially progressive nature of his Scouting movement behind a smokescreen of uniforms and quasi-military structures in order to avoid interference from the conservative establishment.
    Oh, right. That would still have got him sacked though wouldn’t it?
