Summer news season starts early

What will the next prime Minister be reading over the summer?  The new Ian McEwan?  AL Kennedy’s latest?   Some Pinter poetry?  Rereading his Proust?  Maybe some Orwell?  Nah.  Harry bloody Potter.

Polish scientists are to investigate whether the Teletubbies promote gay culture and lifestyles.

“The spokesperson for children’s rights in Poland, Ewa Sowinska, singled out Tinky Winky, the purple character with a triangular aerial on his head.

“I noticed he was carrying a woman’s handbag,” she told a magazine. “At first, I didn’t realise he was a boy.” “

I dind’t realise that American evangelicals were reincaranted so quickly.

On this matter, readers are referred to Mark Lawson’s excellent BBC4 interview with the brains behind Ragdoll Productions, Mark Lawson meets the Teletubbies.  It’s bound to be repeated a dozen times in the next week or so.  Also, try to catch Children’s television on trial which last night had Oliver Postgate’s views on german educational pscychologists and their freudian analysis of Pogle’s Wood.

And the Dutch have pushed gameshows further than they’ve gone before with Big Donor (free registration needed) where contestants compete for a dying woman’s kidneys.  The report indicates that the Dutch are moving away from reality television with Spuiten en Slikken (I’ll leave it to your imagination) receiving particular condemnation.

About loveandgarbage

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.

If he was _just_ reading Harry Potter I’d be a tad worried, but he’s got the Kennealy and the Gore in there as well.
Personally I’m looking forward to the next Potter rather a lot.

    • I’m just a trifle cynical that the man who rejects spin is attempting to connect with the populace by namechecking JK Rowling and promising to read Harry Potter. That plus the Gore smacks of a political call to me.

You mean Mark Lawson isn’t a Teletubby?
