Who is the greatest living Briton?

Inspired by ITV1 and their poll yesterday I have consulted widely with a carefully selected panel to draw up a similarly diverse shortlist of nominees to determine who is the greatest living Briton.

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.

  1. Are you sure Barry Scott is British? He has my vote if so, compared to the others on offer, but I though he was an Aussie.

    • I’ve no idea. But, even if Australian he must surely be a greater Briton than anyone on the list. ๐Ÿ˜‰

If we’re going to be pedantic, Barry Scott is both German, Irish and English. The company, Cillit, are a german chemical company who ordered the creation of the fictional ‘Barry Scott’ for the campaign, the actor who plays him is Irish (Apparently his only other credit is in a Ronan Keating video) and the chap who dubs him is English.
I have very little excuse for knowing this.

          • I’m very glad that someone not involved with Cillit Bang knows this (although am I presuming too much. You’re not involved with Cillit Bang are you?)

Jarvis Cocker. Come the glorious day, when Brenda and Co are exiled to a council estate in Leicester, Jarvis will be president of the republic ;o)

Any list (talking about the programme, not your amusing alternative!) that does not include Tim Berners-Lee is not worth talking about.
