My regular reader may recall tales of Stewart Stevenson MSP for Banff and Buchan (the man who read the confidential Shirley McKie parliamentary report on the train in full view of an interested passenger (ie me)). Mr Stevenson has a blog which tells you what he has done and what he is doing. There is more interesting biographical information about him here where it is revealed that “his leisure interests include photography, reading and writing and private flying.”
There is further biographical information at the Holyrood 2007 website where Stevenson’s cultural interests are detailed as follows:
* The Ascent of Man by Jacob Bronowski”
* A History of the Scottish People 1560-1830 by T C Smout
* The Mythical Man-Month by Fred P Brookes
* A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson”
But most interesting is his favourite Music
“* May Morning by Runrig
* Wonderfull Land by the Shadows
* 1812 Overture by Beethoven”
Mr Stevenson has today been appointed minister for climate change, transport, and infrastructure. We must be grateful that it is not Minister for Culture, but how Stevenson can reconcile his “Private flying” interest with responsibility for climate change I am curious to find out.
PS The departure of Tommy Sheridan from the Scottish Parliament has meant that this LJ must find another parliamentarian to obsess about. At the moment Stevenson looks a good bet but any alternative suggestions from my regular reader would be very welcome.
