Never such innocence again

For those of my generation a defining moment was the vandalism of the Blue Peter Garden.  As Percy Thrower stomped around demanding the return of the cat a certain amount of innocence was lost.

For a later generation the dismissal of Richard Bacon over d**gs, and the formal apology to the children, had a similar effect.

Both though involved external factors: the vandals (rumoured at one point to include Les Ferdinand) ; and Bacon himself.  The programme itself remained above the controversy and by prompt actions maintained its integrity.

Well the current generation of Blue Peter viewers have their own scandal and the programme makers themselves are at its heart: Blue Peter is part of the great phone-in controversy.  They faked results.  If not even Blue Peter is free from the scourge of interactive phone-ins and, worse, faking the results of interactive phone-ins, what hope for the rest of society.  It would never have happened under Biddy Baxter.

Shep must be turning in his grave.

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.

C’mon the BBC let’s see the person responsable for the fake results to have to face a room full of innocent children and explain that they are a liar and a cheat. Obviously this should be televised and before the BBC think of it, no fake children are not acceptable.

Perhaps the children could throw things (that would otherwise go to a bring and buy sale) at the evil member of the production staff – while booing and hissing them.

That really is scandalous – lying to children after encouraging them to spend their parent’s money!

To be fair I just looked and the money went to UNICEF not the BBC so you can lok at it as fair redistribution..

Even charities are being dragged into the scandal… Shocking.
I think the relevant member of production staff should be forced to appear on CBeebies while being taunted by the Thomas the tanke engine rip-off that is Underground Ernie (being badly voiced by Gary Lineker). It seems the only fitting punishment.

Oh my – I’m genuinely shocked!!!! I’m amazed at my own innocence!
They should set ALL the Blue Peter animals on the person responsble – and then get an elephant to piss on them.

    • Do kids these days actually watch BP? I thought it now existed primarily for dads to letch over the female presenters.
I lost interest when Romana d’Annunzio left. Yum. She was not on the MAC counter at Harvey Nick’s in Edinburgh when we went there, which disappointed me. I wonder if the other half knew why I was so tolerant of wandering round the expensive cosmetics? ;P
Oh and JANET ELLIS FOREVER! THE ULTIMATE GILF! ๐Ÿ™‚

I will let you know when my children are old enough to watch it ๐Ÿ˜‰

        Romana? Not a joke?
        Oh and JANET ELLIS FOREVER!
        Which rather goes without saying.
