Blearsy-eyed in Salford

The authoritarian Supervoc is promoting her kinder gentler image by broadcasting a film of her wandering the streets of Salford explaining where she came from and how it influenced her politics.  The last person to bang on about childhood in Salford to this extent was Chris Eccleston explaining why he never watched Doctor Who as a child but played football outside waiting for Star Trek to come on because it had better effects, no posh accents, and was something the kids of Salford could relate to.  This is almost exactly the same as Hazel who seems to have taken Star Trek’s message of American universal domination as her main political creed.

I watch the telly and read when not doing law stuff and plugging my decade and a half old unwatched Edinburgh fringe show.

Apparently the damn woman and her sister appeared in A Taste of Honey as street urchins, but dressed in their best frocks. She seems to think this gives her some street cred.

    • Well, it’s taken me in ;-). I’m on the verge of joining the labour party in order that I can vote for her.
The only reason I had any pre-97 sympathy for Michael Denzil Xavier Portillo was because he’d been the Ribena Kid so she may be on to something…
PS I have visited the reviewingtheevidence site quite often. It’s very impressive. If you’re ever on the lookout for new reviewers give me a shout.

Good grief, you’re not a … ‘conservative’ are you?

        • Nah, Lib Dem activist in the 1990s until I joined a top secret government funded body. Since then studiedly neutral (and lib dem).

          • …Nah, Lib Dem activist in the 1990s…
—> Activist?! Is there such a thing as a LibDem activist?! What did this involve – I am a libdem and find the only activity I get involved in is persuading my friends that Ming “dynasty” Campbell isn’t actually dead.
…I joined a top secret government funded body…
—> A liberal spy inside a top secret govt body – exactly what we need! what ho! What was the body though, and did they require you to be apolitical?
…Since then studiedly neutral (and lib dem)…
—> Reminds me of a friend who was/is resolutely SNP, but told STV that he had made no decision. This was so he could appear on a series of Scotland Today’s in the run-up to the 2005 elections, chatting with other “floating voters” about the pro’s/con’s of each party. Some folks’ll do anything for their 5mins of fame… (cf Stan Collymore)

Scotland on Sunday today appears to be full of the Sheridan clan — the piece about the boxing challenge in the news pages, and then a profile of Gail in the colour supplement.
