Down among the diddy men – legal news

Top news story of the day is the stunning story that artist P Diddy has lost his right to use the Diddy name in the UK to some other rap artist (Richard “Diddy” Dearlove) who has been using the “Diddy” name since 1992.  If the legal principle prior tempore potior jure (earlier by time stronger by right) applies, wait for the usurping of Dearlove by David “Diddy” Hamilton (“the housewive’s choice”) and Hamilton’s dethroning by the great Ken Dodd, whose initial use of the “Diddy” mark at the beginning of his lengthy career at the celebratory concert for the relief of Mafeking led ultimately to the popular spin off “The Diddymen”.  If anyone is entltied to the “Diddy” mark it’s Doddy.
