Amidst all the fuss about Arty Dobe’s book about writing for Doctor Who what appeared to be spoilers about the forthcoming Christmas special were merrily trotted across the pages of The Times during the serialisation. It appears that this may have prompted the announcement today of the Christmas special title.
Hidden away in a press release about Doctor Who and Children in Need it is announced without fanfare that the CHristmas special, starring David Tennant and the great David Morrissey – together on-screen for the first time since Blackpool – is known as
and it appears that Morrissey is the eponymous hero.
Oh my.
Gotta be a wind up surely – we know DT is signed up for the specials next year, no?
Could be planning ahead: Sign Morrisey up in advance for 2011, and then get him to play the first future Doctor in a multi-Doctor story.
Or maybe it’s a wind-up within the episode: Morrissey’s character claims to be Eleventh but he isn’t (or is that steering too close to the audio drama with Christopher Biggins?)
I think it’s unlikely Tenth’s actually going to regenerate, anyway.
