How bad would they be if he just handed them over to his editor?

It has been a while since Lord Pooter updated his blog, but today we are given the reason why.

Lord Pooter has been working on a new novel, Prisoner of Birth, or the Count of Weston Super Mare, about  “a man who is sent to prison for 22 years for a murder he did not commit – he escapes and seeks revenge on the four people who put him there. “

We are advised that he has just finished his tenth draft and to reassure us of the quality

“I’ve never worked harder on a novel since Kane and Abel.”

I remember Paul Merton highlighted Archer’s redrafting process some years ago on HIGNFY (“How bad must the first draft have been? Was it scrawled in crayon?”)
It really is a staggeringly unequal quantity to quality ratio.

Or, it’s about a man who is sent to prison for 4 years for a perjury he did commit – he is released and seeks revenge on the whole world by writing a book about himself thinly disguised as “a man who is sent to prison for 22 years for a murder he did not commit – he escapes and seeks revenge on the four people who put him there”
