Devolution in practice

I am approached by an MP with a query.  I answer this query advising that this is a matter devolved to the Scottish parliament and there is relevant legislation passed there in a previous session.  However, I detail the provisions of the relevant legislation, its effects, and how it could operate in the specific case raised.  The MP contacts an MSP of the same party.  The MSP raises the query with the Scottish parliament information centre.  They phone me with the query.  I then detail the provisions of the relevant legislation, its effects, and how it could operate in the specific case raised.  My answer is identical to the answer I gave to the MP.  Everyone is happy, and thus modern Scottish politics works with no conflicts between Westminster and Holyrood.
