The views on this blog are personal and do not reflect the views of anyone else or my employers. And while I would urge those people that fail to recognise satirical posts for what they are (ie satirical posts) not to e-mail me or post bizarre comments their very failure to recognise that the satirical posts are satirical probably renders such a request futile.

Nothing to do with this, but something occurred to me yesterday. What is the effect on party election broadcasts of the SNP having stood as ‘Alex Salmond for First Minister’? Do they have to have the broadcasts next time under that name whether they want it or not?
IIRC each party can register twelve names (meaning in some areas it was SNP – save [name of local hospital]. The Alex Salmond for First Minister was accompanied by the SNP logo and “-SNP” at the end of the ballot paper.
The rules are odd and will lead to Yellow Pages plumbing type names if unchallenged.
Bizarre. Do you have a link to the rules? Are they the same as in England? For that matter, does the Electoral Commission or Ofcom decide on the PPBs / PEBs these days?
Bloody match overran. I’m now missing Snow pere et fils on the Korean War.
