Satire died when Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize. My reliance on the BBC for news coverage was critically injured when I saw Hasselhoff in chandelier accident as a principal headline on its news page.
Sadly the story doesn’t fully live up to the promise of the headline. But note the following key elements of the report.
a. he is described as a US actor (ignoring the excellent singing career so successful in Germany (and don’t you love the way his website proudly proclaims that he reached number 11 in the Austrain charts))
b. he “hit his head on a chandelier in the men’s room” (is this a euphemism?)
and c. he cancelled his debut pantomime role to be a judge in a reality television programme alongside Piers Morgan.
Attribution: Tom Lehrer, if I’m not mistaken…
Thanks. Couldn’t remember his name.
I’m not sure which aspect of humanity’s artistic endeavours will die due to Hasselhoff’s chandelier incident.
